I
am a licensed architect from Italy with experience in
commercial and residential architecture, in addition to several years of teaching
architecture at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II in Naples. I have a strong background in design, remodeling and work management.
I am particularly interested in sustainability as consequence of the growing interest in “green” architecture in the early 21st century. My research in this field addresses a number of issues, including heating and cooling, water usage, environmental quality, and material usage. Moreover, in response to the economic recession I am focusing more on the fact that people have been building sustainability for thousands of years, with simply and economically efficient projects, that are often practical in nature.
During my last employment I worked for Legat Architects, a multi studio firm, located in the Chicago area. It is specialized in planning, architecture, and interior design. Its portfolio includes commercial/mixed use, corporate, healthcare, higher education, K-12 education, and municipal facilities.I had worked on several projects such as a new lab addition for Centegra Health System in McHenry, a new Hyatt Hotel in Milwaukee, a new Metra Station in Tinley Park, an urban planning development for the Village of Wheeling, the renovation and addition for Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, and Hospital renovations at Vista Health System in Waukegan. During this time I worked under the direction of Ted Haug, partner and design chief. I have been exposed to a full range of activities, from schematic design to production phases. Also my knowledge in construction detailing and 'Revit' software are integral to achieving the role of Revit expert in the firm. This role based on developing a strategy to help the company to move from AutoCAD to Revit. Moreover my interest in sustainability results in the contribution for the achievement of LEED certification. I had worked on several LEED projects such as a New Construction certification for both Natural Science building and Campus Center at Joliet Junior College, and an Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (EBOM) certification for the Niles West High School.
